Dickens (Charles) Master Humphrey's Clock, first edition, first issue in the original 88 weekly parts, 3 engraved frontispieces to parts 26, 52 & 88, wood-engraved illustrations, original white wrappers, some neat repairs, light discolouration, edges chipped and frayed, some wrappers loose, preserved in 3 crimson morocco boxes, spines gilt, with pull-off tops (a little rubbed and scuffed), [Eckel pp.61-65; Hatton & Cleaver, pp.161-182], tall 8vo, Chapman and Hall, 1840-41.
⁂ Master Humphrey's Clock was first issued in weekly parts before being collected together into monthly issues and finally into book format. "Of the four issues the weekly one is difficult to obtain in a clean condition and is therefore the costliest" (Eckel).
