Description

Bath.- Nattes (John Claude) Bath, Illustrated by a Series of Views...With Descriptions to Each Plate, half-title, hand-coloured aquatint title vignette, 28 hand-coloured aquatint plates and a near full-page illustration, occasional light soiling, some spotting, mainly to text, light offsetting, contemporary red half morocco over marbled boards, some wear to spine and extremities, rubbed, [Abbey, Scenery 41; Tooley 340], folio, London & Bristol, 1806.

⁂ Nattes' iconic views of Bath, including the Royal Crescent, the Pump Room, and the Concert-Room, as well as general views of the city, contemporary with Jane Austen's residence in the city. "The apparent scarcity of the book would appear to argue for a limited circulation" (Abbey).
