Japan.- Tosa School (probably 18th century) Ten scenes or episodes, likely from the Genji Monogatari, or The Tale of Genji, each scene with two to four figures conversing in an interior overlooking ornamental gardens and landscapes, brush and inks, opaque pigments, heightened with gold, each on handmade Japanese paper, each sheet approx. 318 x 518 mm (12 1/2 x 20 3/8 in), faint Japanese characters to verso of some, minor abrasions to surface, some small losses, occasional light surface dirt and browning, each tipped onto paper support at corners, all unframed, [Edo Period, probably 18th century]; together with a Kano School fan design with dragon, and two others, all unframed (13)
