Electing a new Pope.- [Leti (Gregorio)] The New Pope: or, a true Account of the Ceremonies and Proceedings in the Conclave at Rome, upon the Pope's Death, translated by John Davies, of Kidwelly, folding letterpress 'A Figure of the printed sheet which every Cardinal hath lying before him...', woodcut diagrams, little chipping to upper corner of title, some worming to head of inner gutters, occasionally just touching a small part of a single letter, occasional spotting or light staining, lightly browned, later endpapers, contemporary sheep, recently sympathetically rebacked, earlier long burgundy gilt label to spine, one lower corner little worn, covers rubbed and scuffed, [Wing L1334C], small 8vo, Printed, and are to be sold at the George in Fleet Street, 1677.
⁂ Rare edition at auction of this translation from a French version of the work. The translator John Davies, of Kidwelly, was a Welsh translator and writer, and friend of the poet John Hall.
