France & England.- Mallarmé (François René Auguste, French statesman of the French Revolution, supporter of Napoleon Bonaparte, 1755-1835) ?Letter signed to Martin Michel Charles Gaudin, Napoleon's Minister of Finances, 3pp., folio, Pont-à-Mousson, 1 Germinal year 12 [21st March 1803], "on the 16 Ventose year 9 [6th March 1800] I asked you for a tax inspector instead of direct contributions, the following 24 Germinal [13th April] you answered me that it is not permitted to select new inspectors as it is not in the provisions of the legislation," folds, slightly browned; and c. 20 other pieces, French and English documents, some 17 century, one mentioning George Walpole, Fakenham, Walsingham etc., traces of heavy damp-staining, some tears, folds, browned, v.s., v.d. (c. 20).
