⁂ The first is a pioneering work on technical drawing, influential in the development of engineering. Monge was a mathematician and physicist, and one of the leading figures in the foundation of the École Polytechnique in 1794. The second item was first published in Paris in 1819 and is considered to be the the first drawing book introduced into American schools; the last was the first book on technical drawing to be published in America.
