⁂ Originally published as a teaching guide for the author's students at the École Royale des Ponts et Chaussées in 1818, in an edition of only 250 copies, this work concentrates on the design of a single country house. This edition has been enlarged to contain extensive details of the garden, orangery, ice house etc. and includes a flushing lavatory and casement window openings. There are only 3 copies listed on COPAC (BL, V & A and Cambridge).
