Everest (George) An Account of the Measurement of Two Sections of the Meridional Arc of India, 2 vol. including volume of plates, first edition, presentation copy from the author inscribed "Presented by order of the Court of Directors of the Hon'ble E.I. Company of Great Britain to the Royal Society of Edinburgh By the Author" on front free endpapers, text with engraved frontispiece and 2 plates, illustrations (one with volvelle) and tables, some folding, plate vol. with errata slip and 32 engraved plates and plans, one double-page and 2 folding, one plate with volvelle, small ink stamp at foot of title and occasional foxing to plates, book-label of Richard Manney, original blind-stamped blue cloth, spines a little faded, a very good copy, preserved in modern cloth slip-case with divider, 4to, 1847.

Including the exceptionally rare volume of plates. Everest was Superintendent to the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India and greatly contributed to determining the figure and dimensions of the earth.
