Pasternak (Boris) Doctor Zhivago, first trade edition in Russian, marginal toning, original green boards, lettered in black, dust-jacket with short tears at fold of inner flaps, otherwise fine, 8vo, Milan, Feltrinelli, 1957 [but 1958].
⁂ An excellent copy of the first trade edition in Russian, published by Feltrinelli in late 1958, a year after he had published the first edition to appear in the west, an Italian translation of this celebrated novel, a manuscript version of which had been smuggled out of the USSR. Pasternak won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958.
