America.- California Gold Mining.- [Hutchings (James M.)] "Forty-Nine". Articles in a Miner's Creed, broadside printed on blue paper, double-column text within typographic border with decorative corner-pieces, slightly faded at foot and with pin-holes and slight tears to corners, with conjugate blank leaf, 4to (250 x 195mm.), ? San Francisco, 1855.
⁂ Rare, Worldcat locates a copy at Yale only; only 2 recent auction records, one on blue paper like this, the other on white. Apparently 2 issues are known; this one has last word of text in column 1 "isn't" not "snt" and has copyright notice at foot ending with "California." Hutchings made a fortune as a miner, lost it all and then re-made it in publishing. He was one of the early settlers in Yosemite Valley and did much to promote the area which became an National Park in 1864.
